What to Expect

If you should decide to visit, we hope you will find our church warm and welcoming. Our form of worship could be described as simple but traditional in nature. Our worship services on Sunday morning usually lasts 1 hour and include the following:
  • prayer
  • singing hymns from the Trinity Hymnal
  • reading the scripture
  • reading sections from our confessions
  • the preaching of God's word
  • the celebration of the Lord's supper (every week)
Our preaching can be described as "expository" in nature. That means that the preacher will almost always preach through an entire book of the Bible, not skipping difficult passages, seeking to bring to light the meaning of a text of the Bible. Expository preaching would contrast with a topical approach.

Also, we believe that God is sovereign in electing some to salvation by grace through faith on account of Christ. That is why we call our church "Sovereign Grace". Therefore, when attending a church service, you will never witness an appeal to man's will to make a decision to "accept Jesus" or to come forward in an "alter call". We view these forms of manipulation as dangerous errors that cause men to trust in their own "decision" for salvation. The scriptures are clear that we are to trust in the merit of Christ alone as the grounds of our salvation. (1 Cor. 1:30-31 - But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—  that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”)

We have a relatively small congregation. Most people dress somewhere between casual and semi-casual. So feel free to dress comfortably when visiting our church.
